SoCal Somethings

We were in Southern California for a total of four days and only spent one whole day at Disneyland. We also spent parts of two days on the road. What other mischief did we get ourselves into on this trip, you may ask?

Well.

First off was a pit stop at Starbucks. I got my favorite, as per usual - soy chai latte. They also proceeded to spell all of our names wrong. Interesting. (*sidenote: I'm currently trying to stack up rewards to get my Gold Card, but it's proving to be very difficult, as the closest Starbucks is a 5 minute car ride away. And we don't have access to a car...)

Seven long hours there. Seven long hours back. Slept most of the way. Also, California freeways are so much prettier than Texas ones. Texas just provides a flat, yellow, dusty view. California at least offers up a couple of mountains and lakes once in awhile. On our way back, we played "Hey, Cow!" Absolute hilarity, guys.

Getting close!

On Thursday, we made a short trip to the local Target with Joan and Chelsea. I felt very SoCal (I know, I know, locals don't use that term, but I'm not a local...) in Cassandra's top-down convertible.

Spent A LOT of time out here... Cassandra has the coolest backyard/pool/hot tub ever.

Brushed up on some Jen-An style news. Love her.

I have literally heard about Cafe Rio for nine months. I think Cassandra was raving about it since the very first day I knew her. I had high expectations, but they were met and then some!

(Excuse the blurry, gross iPhone pic.) I got the pork barbacoa salad with everything on top and a mint limeade. Goodness gracious, it was amazing. Also, that green creamy tomatillo sauce is to-die-for. I was stuffed to a point of dying when I was about halfway through with this, but I ate on like a soldier because it was just that great.

On Saturday night, we made banana boats! Marshmallow + chocolate chips + banana + fire = a recipe for world domination. It was such a fun activity for a mellow night, too. I mean, we could've been studying, but come on... We were on a mini-vacay.

Thank you so much, chica, for having us! I loved seeing your house/town/friends/family/dog/cat... It explains so much! I had the greatest time ever and am currently planning a trip back ASAP.

Do you think the first day of school would be too much?
