A Special Gift

The problem with going to a university on the quarter system is that some breaks are awkwardly placed in the most inconvenient time intervals-- usually the week after everyone else has had their breathers and gone back to school. For me, this certainly rang true this year for Spring Break, which is part of the reason why I have just been so very, very, very bored back home.

People, come back and play with me! Fortunately, I do have one friend-- Mollie and I have been friends since freshman year of high school, when we still played in the orchestra. Our string instrument days are long gone, but our friendship has gotten stronger and stronger with each coming year. In the last couple of years, we have been obsessed with the MTV show The Buried Life, which is about four young men who dropped out of college and formed a list of 100 things they wanted to do before they die. They traveled all across the US and Canada and beyond in a flashy purple RV to cross off some of those tasks and for each task that they crossed off on their list, they would help a stranger cross something off of their's.

Mollie and I were obsessed with Ben, Jonnie, Duncan, and Dave and always felt so inspired by their story. When they came to Houston a couple of weeks ago on their speaking tour, Mollie decided to go and after a crazy story of whistling for them and having a casual conversation with Jonnie, she came over to my house today and surprised me with this:

Mollie had gotten them to autograph a picture for me! Unfortunately, Ben didn't get to sign it, but this gives us more motivation to meet them again in person and get that fixed! This was such a sweet move on her part... Say what you want, but getting an extra picture autographed by celebrities is not an easy task!

We proceeded to spend the next couple of hours working on our own list items and determined that quite a few of them would be accomplished together. Can't wait for all of our adventures together!
