I Touched Jennifer Lawrence's Hand... And Met Some Puppies, Too

Before you read any further, please keep in mind that the first half of the title is a semi-lie.
But it's also the semi-truth.

As a Dead Week treat, Stanford invited the band Parachute to come serenade us on Friday night. They are famous for their songs "Kiss Me Slowly," "Forever and Always," "She Is Love," and for these intents and purposes - "The Mess I Made."

If you haven't watched the music video for that last song, here you go. I'll wait.
As you saw, the guest star of that music video was none other than my homegirl, Jennifer Lawrence. And as you also saw, the main singer homeboy touched hands (and lips) with Jen. So obviously, I had to meet him.

Luckily, my two friends and I somehow managed to sign up as volunteers for the concert, which meant getting to meet the band backstage after the concert.

But first. Rewind.

(Embarrassingly) not a lot of people showed up to the concert. The event wasn't advertised nearly enough, it was raining and cold, and it was the last Friday night before finals. The auditorium was half empty, and my two friends and I were leisurely sitting in the very back row with like fifty rows in between us and the rest of the crowd standing at the front by the stage. We were singing along and having more and more fun as the evening went on. Parachute was an amazing band live. They were hilarious and interactive and the music is actually quality stuff.

Kylie, Cassandra, and I started dancing by ourselves in the very back, but slowly danced towards the front. Then, the lead singer jumped off the stage and came straight at us. He said, "you two! Come with me!" I was in front, so I turned around to see who he was talking to, but in those two split seconds, he had grabbed onto Cassandra's hand and Cassandra grabbed onto Kylie's hand, and they were off like lightning. I ran to my other friends in the crowd and started screaming, "START FILMMMINGGGGG." (Blogger much?) They danced onstage with the band for the entirety of the song and were total cutie pies!

Kylie and Cassandra came back down and we all laughed and danced some more, and Kylie looks at me and goes, "soooo I'm pretty sure he was talking about you and Cassandra, but I just stuck my hand in there and ran."
QT.

And that's how my friend stole my 30 seconds of fame. But it's all good, because I most likely would have tripped and fallen on my face, and not have been able to pull it off nearly as well as my friend Jennifer did at the Oscars.

After the concert, we went backstage to meet the band, and seriously guys - they were so CHILL and nice and down-to-earth and wonderful.

I would very much like to tell you that the next part of this story involved getting drinks with them, but alas... NOPE. Story has ended. Go see Parachute if you ever get the chance, they're super fun. I did get to shake Will Anderson's hand, though- the very same hand that touched Jennifer's hand. So clearly, she and I are on a whole 'nother level now.

MEANWHILE.

Other notes from the weekend.

1 // Twitter Headquarters. Hands down, the coolest place to work.
2 // The Little Griddle.
It was one of those times when we went in with really low expectations, and came out with
eyes as big as saucers, exclaiming "how was that so amazing?!" Pants were unbuttoned, that's for sure.

3 // Stanford Football's going to the Rose Bowl!

4 // Further proof that I do indeed have the best sister ever. She hand-delivered a care package full of fruit and chocolate cake and cookies and love.
5 // PUPPIES. Our dorm hired therapy dogs to come and help us de-stress. This strategy more than worked.
