Thank You, Christopher Columbus

A double-yolked egg represents good fortune, apparently.
I definitely needed that for move-in weekend!

Now y'all, I've heard the rumors. I know he may not have been the Role Model of the Year in terms of character, but - I've still got a lot to thank him for. As much as Pinterest feeds my wanderlust, it's also recently shown me this wonderful quote - "the best part about traveling is coming home."

And oh, how true that statement is.

That first weekend I was back in the USA/SF/Stanford, I just could not for the life of me wipe the friggin' smile off of my face. I was just so giddy, staring at the blindingly blue sky and reveling in the silence {you can imagine how loud China must be if I am saying now that a city like San Francisco sounded silent}. I basically inhaled all the cheese I could find and was practically bouncing off the walls after my first bite of an avocado. Surrounded by my family - both my immediate family family and my precious dolls of friends family - and getting to go to Target ... it was too much for me to handle.

Today is the start of midterm season {already??} and as much as that reeeeeeally sucks, I was still just so grateful last night to be in my rattiest sweats and snuggled up on our couch, with my review slides open, my Cup-o-Noodles next to me, candles lit, New Girl playing on our TV, and all my suitemates around me studying for something or other. It's just so, so good to be home.

And the most blissful moment of all? Getting to sink into my soft, lovely bed with my pile of pillows and my big ol' down blanket - every single night when I get to do this, I know that nothing in the world could be so magical.

  8. And that's why they say "there's no place like home"--it's a cozy place to be, that's for sure!

  11. Everyone looks so happy! :D And, just as a side note, the food photos just made me reeeallly hungry. Yumyum. All the best with all the midterm craziness... it's getting that way for me, too, but unlike being an undergrad, I luckily don't have to worry about exams... just research. Bah! Back to work! ;)
