Healthy Eats: Banana Sorbet

Happy Wednesday!

It's weird to think that I've only been home for two weeks. I mean, I feel like I have been out of school for two months (or more)! The point that I'm trying to make, though, is that during my time at home I've also adopted a new project. My health and fitness.

At school, I have gotten used to eating whatever the dining hall serves - which often means resorting to a diet peppered with pasta and cheese. And soda. Lots and lots of soda. I also got a bit lazy toward the end of the year and stopped going to the gym in favor of spending time watching Chinese soap operas and basking in my last few weeks of freshman year. Therefore, I've decided to get fit again! This time, it won't just be about the exercise (which currently is in the form of running [on a treadmill... I can't handle the heat outside], Nike Training Club, the 30-Day Shred, and some yoga videos), but also about the food.

Recently, I have been eating primarily fruits and vegetables, which has been a very nice and cleansing change from what I usually eat. But with 100+ degree heat and a natural sweet tooth, I need an icy treat once in awhile!

That's where this phenomenon comes in. Banana sorbet (it's better known as banana soft-serve in the online food community, but I felt that the consistency was a lot more like sorbet than soft-serve).

It's literally the easiest thing in the world and completely delicious as well. Just grab a couple of ripe bananas, chop them up into 1 inch pieces, throw them in a big Ziploc bag and freeze them for a few hours. Then, you can either toss them into the food processor and make your life a lot easier, or just mash them by hand for ten minutes as an alternative arm workout (just kidding... but seriously, go for the food processor). Then, you can either eat it right then or if you're like me, place it back in the freezer for a couple more hours.

Once it's ready, just top it off with whatever you like - I went for raspberries this time which was so smart. Also recommended would be any other berry or fruit, or whipped cream, or even a dollop of peanut butter! Go nuts! Healthy and easy and delicious is a winner in my book :)
